Former Orlando Apollos Employees Give AAF Championship Ring to Head Coach Steve Spurrier – The Duel

The Orlando Apollos are seemingly the first and only champions of the Alliance of American Football (AAF). Despite not actually playing in a championship game, FanDuel Sportsbook paid out all futures bets on the team, in sportsbook credits, after the inaugural season was cut short with the Apollos sitting atop the standings with a 7-1 record.

While there will likely never be a true AAF champion, the Apollos’ head coach, Steve Spurrier, was presented with a championship ring to commemorate Orlando’s success. And, no, he didn’t get the bling from the now-defunct league, but instead from former employees of the team.

It seems like a few other members of the former AAF organization got championship rings as well, and that it wasn’t only Spurrier receiving the lone commemorative of the first and only season for the Apollos. Orlando had the best record in the league by a full two games, and had already clinched a playoff berth by the time the league folded.

While fans of the team might be bummed that they won’t have a chance at winning back-to-back titles, they should find some solace in the fact that the Apollos are, and seemingly always will be, unequivocally the greatest franchise in the history of the AAF.
